DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. plans to put 19-inch aluminum wheels on its steel-bodied Hummer H2 vehicles due out in mid-2002. The new "Baby Hummers" will be built off GM's standard-size light-truck platform rather than a scaled-down Hummer platform. The existing Hummer H1 vehicles will continue in production at AM General Corp. in Mishawaka, Ind., and, unlike the new smaller vehicles, will continue to employ aluminum bodies.
